Microsoft demoed the Surface table monitor yesterday at the All Things Digital Conference in California. The Surface functions like a 30-inch, horizontal multi-touch screen, using five projectors underneath the screen that is sensitive to objects that come near it. The Screen reacts to touch and recognizes various finger gestures and also responds to other objects like a paint brush. The Screen runs on Windows Vista and is essentially a Windows PC shaped like a table with additional multi-touch functionality.

The Surface will be shipped to T-Mobile US stores and can also be seen in Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. properties. International Game Technology will also be a distributor.
