cellphones linked to cancerAnother study has suggested a link between cellphone radiation and brain cancer. The most worrisome detail is how “exposure to even low levels of radiation from mobile handsets could interfere with how brain cells divide, thus causing tumors.”

The study was done by medical researchers at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. It is the common belief that cellphones produce too little radiation to cause cancer, but the study makes one think otherwise. No definite link was established it questions the current wisdom regarding nonthermal radiation produced by handsets. Dr Rony Seger, a co-author of the study says, “The significance lies in showing cells do react to cellphone radiation in a non-thermal way.”

The song must be all over the Web by now. Every good viral marketing campaign is like a snowball that began on top of mount Everest and this viral campaign by Nokia will be remembered for its cheesiness and sheer spunk. Pop4Real, as their website explains it, began in 1991 and has made several hit songs before in the “spons pop” genre. “Spons pop” is the short version of sponsor pop. You might remember them for their hit singles for Mix it Up kitchen wear and C.O.R.N for the canned food industry.

Their new music video for the Nokia N81 is a stroke of genius. The song “N81″ sticks to your mind. It’s melodic and the music video choreography reminds you of ‘N Sync in their heyday. Enjoy.

Nokia 6070What immediately strikes one about the Nokia 6070 is the simple candy bar design, complete with buttons that seemed specifically designed for texting. I had cell phones like the 6070. In fact, I had maybe half a dozen Nokia handsets with similar physical qualities. If you are the type who do not like touchscreens, the big buttons of the 6070 is surely a big draw.

The 6070 is a triband GSM phone with a 65k-color screen and a VGA camera. Everyone knows, Nokia phones user interface is the most user-friendly in the industry, and Nokia has had enough sense to maintain it. The 6070 is a little too advanced for the “entry-level phone” classification. It is a camcorder, an FM tuner and a video player, besides being a cell phone, so don’t let it’s classic looks fool you. The 6070 will be available for Fido customers for $25 and a three-ear contract.

htc 5800 smartphoneBell wasn’t going to let Telus go it alone in the HTC sweepstakes. Today they announced the HTC 5800.

The 5800 smartphone features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and is essentially the same phone as the S720 Libra announced earlier this month by the other big Canadian CDMA carrier, Telus.

Both phones operate on Windows Mobile 6.0, feature stereo Bluetooth and a 2.0 megapixel shooter. The biggest difference appears to be the front housing and a slight difference in weight. Oh yeh, and Bell beats Telus on price by $50 without contract, $449.95 vs. $499.99 with Telus.

Samsung showcased “Syncmaster 225UW”, a 22-inch LCD monitor with built-in 2 megapixel webcam and headphone jack. Thanks to this integration, you won’t have to buy separate webcam to satisfy your video chatting needs. Eventhough this isn’t the first on the market (I’ve seen one local brand with similar concept couple months ago), it’s still a good thing to find out that major monitor manufacturer finally incorporated the idea. The screen itself features a contrast ratio of 700:1 and a response time of 5ms.
