In a mobile world currently dominated by the iPhone, are MP3 phones still relevant? Sony Ericsson definitely thinks so. The new W910 is latest model in Sony Ericsson’s Walkman Phone series and, surprise surprise, it does more than just play music. The W910 is a complete media phone with video playback capability and, yes, gaming. There’s a special SenseMe feature, which allows steering control for 3D images. DoCoMo can finally offer the LG L704i, which is an iteration of LG’s Chocolate line. The L704i is a 3G phone with HSDPA 3.5G connectivity with up to 3.5Mbps in downlink speeds. The slider has touch-sensitive buttons with the Chocolate’s familiar red light.

Pantech & Curitel recently presented its new HSDPA-ready cell phone in Korea market, “SKY IM-U220″. If you notice, the handset looks like a dolphin. Not sure whether it’s just coincidence or the comapny did it on purpose. Being a HSDPA-ready mobile device, it offers up to 7.2Mbps of data access speed, either for browsing the web, downloading content, or accessing email. Its other features are just pretty standard though, for example, a 1.3MP camera, MP3 player, microSD card slot, and e-Dictionary.

We’ve heard about the C150 before and we’ve been wondering when it will actually be in people’s hands. Well,that time is now, at least for the Taiwanese.

The phone connects to GSM networks and plays MP3 and MP4 files and takes pictures using its 2MP built-in camera. The exciting feature, however, of the Hello Kitty phone is the outer casing, which can be customized in several available Hello Kitty themes. These are mature and elaborate designs, which probably means it will also have a mature price. We’ll inform you about it when we get the official word on pricing.
 

Asustek (widely known as Asus) has just launched AIR which stands from “Asustek Internet Radio”. This retro-looking radio has the ability to connect to the world wide web using either standard LAN or 802.11b/g WiFI connection. It’ll automatically detect nearby WiFI network. Once connected, you’ll be able to listen to one of more than 10,000 radio stations worldwide. A small LCD display is provided so you can see the current channel information. You’ll be also able to control the radio from far using bundled remote control. Sounds cool!

BlueBird introduced its latest GPS-enable PDA phone in Korea market, “BM-150R”. It runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 Premium Edition OS, allowing various handy apps to be installed and run. For connectivity, the handset offers both Bluetooth and WiFI wireless connection. A USB interface is provided as well, for wide-range connectivity with other devices. Other features include a 3.5-inch widescreen display, an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera module, miniSD media card slot, and GPS navigation capabilites.

Current number two handset maker Samsung has achieved a record quarter in Q3 selling 42.6 million units. The best sellers were in the Ultra line of phones, the thinnest line of phones in the market. So far, Samsung has sold 115 million handsets this year, still not as impressive as the number of Nokias sold in China alone but Samsung is getting there. Samsung expects they will sell 157 million units this year.

It’s a mixed year for Samsung. Operating profits slid in the DRAM and NAND flash division, while LCD TV sales were brisk. My observation is that Samsung has diversified its portfolio rather effectively, they can free their cellphone division to risk in more innovation. Compare that to Moto.
